Know Lambeth or Southwark? Committee Role to Shape Health Equity


Do you live or work in Southwark or Lambeth or have any ties or deep connections to the community? If you’ve answered yes to one or both of these questions, then you should consider this opportunity.

We are supporting Impact on Urban Health (IoUH) on their mission to find 3 individuals to join their Committee as Co-opted Members (2 of which will also join the Executive Investment Committee (EIC).

This is a paid role: £500 a day.


Criteria 

The role is open to anyone 18+ who is a resident of Lambeth or Southwark, or has a meaningful, ongoing connection to the local community through lived experience, sustained involvement, or work

They are looking for candidates who have expertise in at least one of the areas below:

1. Tackling inequity and structural racism

Work focused on anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion, addressing discrimination in services or policy, or ensuring marginalised communities shape decisions.

2. Community power and collective action

Work that involves community organising, power-building, strengthening local leadership, or supporting communities to influence decisions.

3. Anchor-Institution Partnerships Building relationships 

Work with major local institutions (e.g., hospitals, universities, housing associations) to influence their work for community benefit.

What you'll do:

Influence strategy, decide on major funding proposals, and ensure local community voices shape decisions to improve health locally and reduce inequality.

What it takes:

Around 10-13 days per year: approximately 5 hybrid meetings (late afternoon) plus 2-4 hours pre-reading per meeting.
